Principal's Message

Wrap Text around ImageI am thrilled to join the Correges family for the 2011-2012 school year!  Having served as Fulton Middle School's principal for the past 5 years, I am fortunate to already know many of the Courreges families and look forward to meeting all of you throughout the year.

For those of you who do not already know me, I want to take a brief moment to share my background with you.  I have just recently finished my 10th year working as an administrator in the Fountain Valley School District.  I was the assistant principal at Masuda Middle School from 2001-2003 and then became the principal at Moiola K-8 in 2003. After spending four outstanding years at Moiola, I moved to Fulton in 2006 to serve as their principal for the past 5 years.  Prior to coming to the FVSD, I was a middle school instrumental music teacher in the Long Beach Unified School District.  I graduated from UC Santa Barbara with a bachelor's degree in business economics, a master's degree in education from National University, and my educational administrative credential from UC Irvine.

On a more personal note, I am a classically trained cellist; spending many of my weekends performing with my string quartet at weddings/parties and come from an extremely talented musical family.  My father, Jim Christensen, was the director of music at Disneyland from the 1960's-1980's and was the original musical composer and arranger of Disneyland's Main Street Electrical Parade.  My mother, Karen Christensen, is a professional flutist/pianist and church choir director in Anaheim, CA.  I have three older brothers, Kent, Tim, and Brad, as well as three children of my own, Brittany (15), Miranda (10), and Conner (8).

Now that you know a little bit about me, I truly look forward to meeting all of the Courreges Cougar students, parents, and community members over the course of this school year.  Thank you for welcoming me to the Courreges family!

Sincerely,

Chris Christensen, Principal
